Ad policy

This applies to every paid placement on Franklin Local: sponsored cards, featured events and top-of-category bids. Every ad is labeled "Sponsored" and must be legal, truthful and relevant to people in Franklin Township. Every ad form asks you to confirm: "My business and ad are legal and not in a category on the ad policy."

Never accepted (illegal or harmful)

Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia
Weapons and ammunition sales
Counterfeit or replica goods
Adult and sexual services
Unlicensed medical claims (cures, miracle treatments, prescription drugs without a prescription)
Hate or harassment
Scams and deceptive offers
Get-rich-quick and MLM schemes

Legal, but we don't run them

Cannabis, THC and CBD
Gambling, betting and casinos
Tobacco, vape and hookah
Payday, title and debt-relief loans
Crypto and investment offers
Political and issue ads
Dating and hookup services
Firearms retailers and gun ranges

How it's applied

We check the ad text and the business listing it links to. An ad that falls in one of these categories is declined before payment where we can tell, or refunded in full if we find it at approval. We may decline any ad that we think misleads readers. Sponsored spots never change the order of the regular directory.
